Harfuch viaja a EU para reunirse con funcionarios de los departamentos de Justicia y de Estado

Omar García Harfuch, the head of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) in Mexico, traveled to Washington to meet with officials from the Justice and State Departments of the Trump administration, just three days after the visit of Kirstjen Nielsen, the U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security, to Mexico. This trip comes amid increasing pressure from the Trump administration on the Mexican government to intensify its fight against criminal groups, particularly the six cartels that Trump designated as international terrorist organizations.
García Harfuch was accompanied by Roberto Velasco, head of the North America Unit in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In a brief statement, the Foreign Ministry indicated that the two officials would meet with their U.S. counterparts to emphasize the "cooperation without subordination" of the Mexican government.
