Pobladores piden ser consultados sobre instalación de recicladora de basura en San José Chiapa

PUEBLA, Pue. (apro).- Residents of the Cuenca Libres-Oriental have published a letter addressed to President Claudia Sheinbaum, requesting to be consulted and to receive information regarding the installation of a recycling park called the Polo de Desarrollo de Economía Circular para el Bienestar Puebla, which has already been authorized in the municipality of San José Chiapa. Although the decree establishing this Development Pole for Wellbeing was published on March 2 in the Official Journal of the Federation, the residents have called for public meetings to express their opposition to the project, asserting that they have not been provided with any information.
It is important to note that during the morning conference on January 22, President Sheinbaum stated that before making a decision regarding the location of the recycling center in San José Chiapa, the residents would be consulted and informed about the details of the plant. Similarly, Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier stated that there was a majority of residents in favor of the establishment of the recycling facility in the region. “It is a matter of reconciliation; we will have dialogue and communication with them,” the governor expressed.
However, in meetings held in public squares, residents of San José Chiapa, Nopalucan, Grajales, Mazapiltepec, Soltepec, Ocotepec, and Tepeyahualco have reported that no one has informed them or taken them into account when deciding to install this so-called Polo de Desarrollo para el Bienestar in their region. In their letter to the president, they note that the Cuenca de Libres Oriental is already classified as an environmental hell due to the presence of foreign companies such as Granjas Carroll, the Audi car manufacturer, Spanish company Iberdrola, Canadian company Driscolls Berries, and brewer Heineken, among others. They assert, "Now your government has announced that a Recycling Park officially named by Semarnat as Polo de Desarrollo de Economía Circular para el Bienestar Puebla will be established here, which was rejected in the State of Hidalgo for being considered a danger to the health of the communities."
