Funcionaria de Tepoztlán acusa de violencia institucional al Tribunal Electoral de Morelos

Karina Vara Rodríguez, municipal assistant in the Huilotepec neighborhood of Tepoztlán, has reported experiencing political violence based on gender. She accuses members of her community, as well as the Morelos State Electoral Tribunal, of structural and institutional violence following their dismissal of her complaint. In a public statement, she expressed concern for her safety and that of her family, attributing accountability to both her alleged aggressors and the electoral tribunal.
Vara Rodríguez criticized the tribunal for failing to adequately consider the broader context of the aggressions she faces, suggesting that such violence has become normalized in her community. She pointed out that the tribunal views these issues merely as matters of freedom of expression, allowing individuals to insult and intimidate her without consequence.
She further indicated that this institutional interpretation undermines protections for women facing political violence in decision-making roles. Vara Rodríguez highlighted that her complaint, filed on October 9, 2025, with the Morelos Institute of Electoral Processes and Citizen Participation, details systemic patterns of political violence by various individuals against her.
